We all need to change the outlook and interiors of our homes time to time so as to keep it with time and in current style. It helps in giving a refreshing look to our home along with new flow of energy which begins with changing interiors. Contemporary means modern, current and up to date. Contemporary style in interior design is one of my favorites and I will choose contemporary style of interior design over others because it is comfortable and welcoming without being cluttered and dark. It is a style that is equally appropriate for offices and stores, lofts and homes. Fundamentally, simplicity, subtle sophistication, texture and clean lines help to define contemporary style decorating.Contemporary Style Furniture1. Smooth, clean, geometric shapes are essential for contemporary style furniture pieces.2. Upholstered furniture often wears black, white, or other neutral tones in textured natural fibres.3. Fabrics often have a natural look found in wool, cotton, linen, silk, jute, and add textural appeal.4. Pillows add a shot of colours and texture in clean geometric shapes.5. Less is more! In a contemporary style interior, use of ruffles, excessive carved details, fringe, or floral prints are avoided.6. Floors in a contemporary style home are bare and smooth in wood, tile, or vinyl.2. Commercial grade carpets are used for sound control or warmth in contemporary style of decor.3. Plain or geometric-patterned area rugs are used to add colour and texture.4. Neutrals, black, and white are the main colours in contemporary style floorings.For example:If we talk about the kitchen floorings then some popular kitchen flooring options would be: linoleum floors, Marmoleum flooring, vinyl flooring, hardwood flooring, and ceramic and stone tiles. Each of these materials has its advantages. My choice of flooring is vinyl flooring. It is contemporary style of flooring and in fashion because of its benefits over other floorings and not to forget it is easy on pockets too. Let me tell you its advantages in detail as under-1.Ease of Cleaning:Vinyl flooring is very well suited for the purpose. They do not require chemicals and detergents. A simple moist mop is all that is needed to keep the floor as good as new.2. Stain Resistance:It is stain resistant flooring. Spills occur frequently in the kitchen. Instead of brooding over stained surfaces I prefer a floor that is impervious to stains. It is always better to wipe all spills- food or water- immediately. So floors like vinyl floors are more stain resistant and give us some breathing time.3. Budget:The family budget is a very important factor. Vinyl tiles are more economical options as compared to the other options like exotic wood floors.4. Hardness:Ceramic and stone tiles are hard. Vinyl and linoleum are more forgiving and increase the likelihood of reclaiming a glass utensil in one piece. A soft floor is also easier on feet after a long day.5. Availability:It is available in wide range of designs & colours and can be matched as per the colour shades in the kitchen. For example: vinyl carpets, vinyl tile, vinyl boards, vinyl planks (rectangular pieces), etc.6. Maintenance:Kitchen is place that is tend to get dirty frequently and after some time we see stains on the flooring of kitchen but in case of vinyl flooring the maintenance is in favour of housewives as it requires low maintenance and thus helps in saving time and money on cleaning products.The kitchen floor should blend well with the rest of the house and yet be distinct in terms of practicality.In short the contemporary style in interior design best suits in the current time and is quite in fashion. It won’t cost you as much as the traditional style which has detailed carved furniture with expensive art effects and antique pieces.
