Bangalore: The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) had developed few layouts which remained un-allotted for past decade. After a long wait of 10 years, the BDA has now decided to give out sites in the layouts. The authority will now invite application for about 5000 sites in Kempegowda layout in Bangalore city, the submission of applications will start from March, 2014.The Bangalore Development Authority has acquired about 2000 acres of land and it has also started developing this layouts to form 5000 sites along with sufficient other amenities. The chief minister of Karnataka said that the government will start accepting applications for the allotments of these sites from March.The BDA has not formulated any new layouts in the past 10 years and Arkavathy layout is the last layout of BDA which has been developed in Bangalore city. The BDA has also announced plans to develop five new layouts in the city which include Kempegowda, Shivram Karanth, S Nijalingappa, Devraj Urs, and KC Reddy and these layout will allot overall 2 lakh sites.The last layout in Bangalore which was developed by BDA was Arkavathy Layout, it had received about 2.7 lakh applications for overall 20000 sites formed on the layout. Although it received good response from citizens, it got stuck in legal complication as several people challenged the development in various courts. At Arkavathy, the BDA allotted about 9000 sites to the beneficiaries but many of these are yet to get their plots due to compensation problems.BDA had planned to form Kempegowda Layout in 2007 and it had issued a notification to acquire 4043 acres and 27 Guntas of land in villages situated in Northern and southern talukas of Bangalore.
