Nashik: Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has decided to construct two bridges, one on the Godavari river and other on the Waldevi river. The NMC has issued a notice inviting bids worth Rs 10.62 crore for the construction of these bridges.NMC has taken the decision of constructing these bridges to ensure proper transport during the Kumbh Mela, 2015. NMC stated that the bids have been invited from experiences contractors having working experience of similar structures for the state government, or central government. The bids for the these projects will be accepted through online tenders.Construction of these bridges will make it easier for transportation and will also ease the heavy flow of traffic during the Kumbh Mela. The first bridge will be constructed near the sewage treatment plant at Agartakli on the Godavari river which is estimated at the cost of Rs 5.99 crore and the other bridge will be constructed at Deolaligaon on the Waldevi river with an estimated cost of Rs 4.62 crore.These projects will be the part of the NMC’s Kumbh Mela works which will help pilgrims and commuters to ease the traffic issues during the Kumbh Mela. First bridge situated on Agartakli will be built on the middle ring road while the second bridge will be built on the outer ring road. The existing bridge at Deolaligaon is very old hence it was necessary to construct a new bridge parallel to the existing bridge.Kumbh Mela arrangement to avoid any mishaps or issues in the future is a very big task for the Nashik Municipal Corporation.
