Pune: The going gets tough for the municipal corporation when property owners do not pay the property tax that is due from their end. But it becomes worse if the records of a municipal corporation show a tax deficit because more than a thousand properties had been charged twice. At present the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is going through a similar ordeal. The standing committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation decided to write off outstanding property tax of Rs 8.69 crore. The decision had been arrived at on Wednesday, 11th September when it was found that as many as 1,287 properties had been charged twice and therefore the outstanding amount of property tax can actually be flawed.Vishal Tambe, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of PMC said, “The committee is studying the matter. We have asked for more details about the proposal.” A property tax department official said that the duplication of records has led to the inflation of pending property tax figures. These tax figures have been written off as the administration now has to find out the accurate and actual figures of property tax that are outstanding. The property tax records officials are of the opinion that the tax records need to be revised and updated. Otherwise such double taxation may occur again in the future. The PMC has been found to have taxed property as vacant plot even after the property had been developed. Even after the demolition of the wadas, tax had been imposed on vacant land and constructed structures in the wadas.Earlier this year a property tax collection target was set at Rs 1,348 crore. Of this, the department succeeded in collecting Rs 415 crore as property tax till September 2013. The standing committee has also postponed a few other actions like the procuring vehicles for garbage disposal.займ на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн
