Bangalore: The Swedish multinational company is about to close a real estate deal with the purchase of a lavish office space. Volvo is in talks with Bagmane Group, a prominent Bangalore based realty developer, to buy an office space of about 1 million sq.ft. The deal is estimated to cost Volvo Rs. 700 crore. Volvo, which has its core operations revolving around the manufacture of contemporary trucks and buses, will be expanding its horizon with this deal. The company is also into the production of world class construction equipment and is currently operational in six different locations of Bangalore.In order to centralize operations, Volvo has decided to purchase a huge office space in the Outer Ring Road of Marathahalli. This location already houses countless IT companies and Volvo already has its global ‘tech’ wing positioned here. This deal will ensure that the branches of Volvo in Bangalore will merge and become fully functional in its new headquarters.A spokesperson from the Volvo group confirmed the possibilities of purchasing a new office space in Bangalore. The company is analyzing various alternatives and discussions with reputed builders in Bangalore like Bagmane are in progress. Volvo’s move is said to be a bold one considering the drop in the office space absorption in the first half of the fiscal year.The fully equipped office space is said to have been purchased at a record breaking 700 crore making this a milestone in Volvo’s extensive ventures.
