Kids get the opportunity to keep distance from studies and to indulge in various activities like playing, sports, swimming, arts and crafts, making visit to grandparents, etc. Though summer season is quite happening for kids and young but the heat that makes us dull due to rise in temperature is also a part of this season. We must make sure that we stay away from the sun when it is very hot and keep ourselves cool and comfortable during this season otherwise all the excitement to enjoy summers will vanish. The best way to escape the high temperatures outside is to stay inside during the day and use evenings and mornings for outdoor activities. In a country like India the summer season is actually very hot and the temperature touches to 40 and above in some parts. In such a situation it is necessary to adopt some measures to control heat in the house as it is not possible for everyone to switch on the A/Cs throughout the day and water coolers are also not the perfect solution for cooling as mostly during summer season most of the parts in India have water crisis situation.Here are some useful tips that will surely help to keep you and your home cool and comfortable during the hot summer time along with saving on energy bills:Try to keep your home cool by stopping the sunlight entering your home.   6. As we all know that electrical appliances emit heat while they are in use. It is better to avoid using them during afternoons when the temperatures are at its highest point. Late evenings or early mornings are good time to use washing machines, dishwashers, mixer grinders, food processor, etc.
  7. Unplug all the electronic units like TV, radio, CD player, mobile phones when not in use to save energy.
  8. Keep the doors inside the home open so that the air can circulate properly. If the room is closed and fan is on at a high speed it will also generate heat so the purpose of cooling will not be solved.
  9. Minimize using electronic items like computers, laptops, music players, TV and other gadgets during daytime as all of them generate heat and contribute in temperature rise of indoors.
  10. If using an AC then close all the windows and doors to get efficient cooling in less time.
  11. Change the AC filters time to time to get maximum results because if the filters are not clean it will consume more energy to cool the room.
  12. If possible install a shade on the outer unit of split AC to shade it from sunlight then it will work better.
  13. If you are buying a new AC then you must choose a unit that is according to the size of your room. It is better to see the energy efficiency star ratings on the product if the use is more than seasonal.
  14. Keep your house clutter free and remove all unnecessary items from your home. Open clean spaces are cooler and consume less energy than a fully occupied house or room.
  15. Add some indoor plants to feel cool and fresh during summer season.
  16. If thinking of coloring your home then use light shades to give cool effect inside and outside. It consumes less heat when we use light shades on the exterior part of house.
  17. Instead of using refrigerator for cooling water use earthen pots to cool the drinking water as it will not only save energy that fridge consumes to cool water bottles but also enhance the taste of drinking water.
