Mumbai: Stringent measures taken by the BMC to curb delays in paying property taxes has been fruitful. As compared to the previous fiscal year, tax collection amount has increased by 13% this year. The reminders sent by BMC have resulted in a tax collection of Rs.3, 120 crore, with final figures expected to shoot up. However on the last day of collection citizens servers crashed causing inconvenience to the citizens waiting in long queues to pay the tax. Officials claimed that the sudden increase in workload caused the server to crash. The slow machines tested the patience of the citizens who lined up to pay their property tax before the deadline. The IT department was later roped in to resolve this issue.
