The population of city is growing rapidly and roads and transport facilities are getting crowed. One such road is Karve Road.Karve Road is named after the great social reformer, the late Bharat Ratna Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve . It is one of the longest and busiest roads of Pune that goes parallel to Mutha River. As maximum traffic runs here maximum pollution can be felt. It connects the Deccan area near Garware flyover- lakdi bridge junction to Kothrud and Karve Nagar areas upto Warje. Kothrud, Karve nagar and Warje are Marathi dominated areas that are densely populated and makes the Karve road busiest. In these areas you can see all colours of Marathi culture. The main land marks of Karve road are Nul stop, Maharshi Karve statue, Paud phata, 3petrol pumps, Prabhat road corner, Dahanukar colony corner, SNDT, Hingne Mahila Aashram, Warje naka. The Dashbhuja Ganesh temple is situated at Paud phata on Karve road. It is three hundred years old temple. Pune’s first flyover was constructed on this road in 1998 that goes towards Paud road and helps in reducing a bit of traffic.Some good restaurants on the road are Anand pure veg, Girija, Chinese Oriental with some big brands like Domino’s, McDonald, Cafe Coffee Day, Pizza Hut, Kahva cafe etc. If we talk about good shops then yes this road has some biggest name in jewellery market like Ranka Jewellers, Ashtekar Jewellers, Rajmal lakhichand Jeweller, Laagu Bandhu, Vaman Hari Pethe etc.This long road also has some good colleges and schools like Abhinav Vidyalaya, Dr. Kalmadi Shamrao High School and Abasaheb Garware College.
