Waste can be defined in simple words as useless things or material which people no longer use and throw into dustbins.   • Start from yourself and do take responsibility of at least the waste that is produced in your household.
  •  Segregation of waste at source makes things easier in waste management process. Keep dry and wet garbage separate.
  •  It is a good idea if you can make compost of kitchen waste like vegetable peels, food waste, tea and coffee leftover, garden leaves etc. this compost can help to make the soil fertile and provide nutrients to your apartment garden.
  •  One most important step is to avoid plastic bags from super markets as much as you can. Do remember to take your carry bag with you.
  •  Always prefer products with less packaging or cardboard packaging instead of plastic packs.

Give instruction to your house maid to segregate the dry and wet garbage.Follow the three R’s- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Always try to reduce the production of waste like plastics, electronics, electricity, packaged food, etc. as the usage is directly connected to the production and thus the waste. If things can be repaired then it is better to repair instead replacing it as it can save money, energy and waste. Reuse all the items till the time they can be used. If not possible to use then recycle it or put it in recycling bin. It is the best way to save your environment. Glass bottles, plastic bags, tins, cans, paper waste, etc. can be recycled.
