Pune: After a long wait of almost 18 years, Pune Metropolitan Development Authority (PMRDA) will start operating from 1st May, 2015. As soon as this new development authority is initiated, it will immediately take the control of state land, building agreement and execution of regional plan. The development authority will also conduct survey on illegal construction and take necessary action.The president of PMRDA as well as the guardian minister of Pune recently met the officials of state government to assess the preparations of bringing PMRDA into effect. According to him the development authority will have its headquarters in Pimpri Chinchwad New Town Development Authority, Akrudi. PMRDA will look after all the development duties and building permissions.With this new body, the city can expect for an integrated development plan. PMRDA will also take action against unauthorized constructions taking place in areas which are under its control. The metropolitan development authority will be the planning authority that will come up with a development plan in metropolitan regions of Pune and also control the development activities with respect to the development plan. The factor that makes PMRDA different from others is that it will not have to depend on state revenues as it has its own resources.Once the PMRDA comes into effect, the city will grow in unit.
