Pune: Citizens will now heave a sigh of relief with the introduction of the online property registration system. Owners can now skip the prolonged waiting time in queues with this new facility. Buyers and sellers can fill in necessary information as well as submit documents online. The stamp duty and registration charges can be paid online through Net banking. With the previous system buyers and sellers had to spend the entire day to complete the property registration process. The online facility will cut short the registration time to just one hour, saving much of the time and energy of the public. Though fees for registration can be paid online, document handling charges has to be paid in person at the sub-registrar’s office. Also the buyer or seller has to pay a short visit to the office for verification of bank payments, taking photographs and signing other necessary documents. The online payment facility will leave the officials at the sub registrar office with the task of just verifying the challans of online payment and entering the property owner’s data. The time consuming process of manual spell check will be reduced to a half an hour task. The National Information Centre is extending a helping hand for building the online systems.
