Chennai: In an effort to open up new avenues for property tax payment, the Chennai Corporation has introduced yet another facility for paying tax dues. Now onwards tax payers can make use of mobile phones for settling their property tax dues.Tax payers have an option to write off their dues by either paying it at any of the reputed bank branches and ATM’s or through mobile phones. With a tax collection of Rs.750 crore targeted this year, the Chennai Corporation is taking every possible step towards achieving it. If more better and feasible modes of payment are introduced then the process of tax collection will speed up.This year with the census counting in priority much of the manpower and resources will be diverted towards this operation. At this point of time if technology is roped in it will easy the task of property tax collection. Tax payers now no longer need to queue up in front of the Corporation offices to pay the taxes. They can either walk into any of the ATM’s or Banks to pay taxes. Making it even more easy tax payers can now settle the tax dues via mobile phone as well.
