Malavli is one of the growing towns and hill stations in Pune region in the state of Maharashtra. This small town is located at about 60 km far from Pune. Bhaja caves are very close to Karla Caves. One can reach Karla caves from here in about 20 minutes on foot. Bhaja caves are known to be on the main trade route in the past, which ran from the Arabian Sea into Deccan region. Lohgad fort located in Malavli is the most popular tourist destination in this area. This fort is also known as the iron fort as the word Lohgad means an iron fort. Why this fort has been name Lohgad is for the visitors to find out. But I can assure you that you will know while visiting this place. This fort is located on top of hill at the height of 3450 feet. 4 to 5 hours trek to reach there will burn all the calories in your body and leave you exhausted. Lohgad fort is about 2000 years old and it still stands strong and tall. The fort is surrounded by intense greenery and has a view over Pawana Dam, which is probably one of most beautiful sights one can see.
