There are many forms of Gods as well as Goddesses in our country. If you talk about the ultra modern metro city of Mumbai I can assure you that you will find a shine in each street of this city. Modernisation does not affect the faith and devotional values of the citizens of India. Through this article let me take you to one of the oldest and most significant religious places of Mumbai known as Mahalakshmi Temple. This magnificent Hindu Temple is situated at Bhulabhai Desai Road close to Breach Candy beside the sea shore in Mumbai. As the name suggests the main deity of this shrine is Mahalakshmi. This beautiful temple was created in early nineteenth century in the year 1831. A Hindu Merchant named Dhakji Dadaji built this shrine. Some people believe it was built much earlier in 1785.There are confusions about the history of the temple as its history is connected to the building of Horned Vellard. British always wanted to connect Malabar hills to Worli but several problems occurred and the plan couldn’t be materialised. One night the Chief Engineer Pathare Prabhu had a dream in which he was asked by Goddess Mahalakshmi to find three statues from the bottom of sea and install them in a temple. He did search and found the three idols and placed them in a temple. After this the work to create Vellard proceeded smoothly and Breach Candy which linked Malabar Hill and Worli was built. The three idols of Goddess Mahalakshmi, Goddess Mahasaraswati and Goddess Mahakali are there inside the Mahalkshmi Temple. The idols are ornamented with nose rings, gold bangles, flowers and pearl necklaces. The idol of Mahalakshmi is sitting on a tiger and a demon Mahishasur is also seen in tandem. The entrance door is intricately carved adding beauty to the temple. Three different sized white domes can be seen with golden shikharas. Within the temple complex you can find several small shops selling flower garlands, coconuts, sweets and other items used in the worship in the temple. On the occasion of Navratri festival the temple is beautifully decorated and illuminated with lights. During this time large number of devotees visits the temple to pray and offer flower, coconuts and sweets to the Goddesses. You can expect long queues during Navratri at the temple.Close by attractions to exploreThe Atria Mall at WorliHeera Panna Shopping centreHaji Ali DargahAccessibilityOne can reach the temple of Mahalakshmi by using buses, taxis, auto rickshaws or local train as Mahalaksmi station is the nearest station.RUCHI MAHAJANзайм на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн
