In an initiative taken by Magarpatta Township, SHG (Self-Help Groups) in the district will be supplying vegetables in bulk to about 32,000 residents of Magarpatta Township, Pune which is spread over 400 acres and one of the premier townships in the country. This will provide an income-generating opportunity to SHG.The Magarpatta Township Development and Construction Company management is in talks with farmers from neighboring areas like Baramati, Daund and Saswad from where the vegetables could be supplied directly from the farm to Magarpatta, states Mr. Satish Magar, (Managing Director Magarpatta Township Development and Construction Company). The idea is to get few SHGs to come together so they can supply huge quantity of fresh vegetables and provide wide range of vegetables to Magarpatta residents. The SHGs will start supplying vegetables for the next couple of months to test the market and response. The township will provide a launch pad and also provide infrastructural support to SHG.
