We all dream to own a home and when we buy it we feel on top of the world. It becomes difficult for us to wait till the date of possession. We want to get the possession of our new home as early as possible but it takes time and sometimes it gets delayed due to various reasons. In the mean time it is better that you utilize this time gap to plan your shifting and arranging ideas for the new home. You may feel very excited about this new move but it is not an easy task to shift homes as it needs lots of efforts to pack and unpack things. Most of the people use movers and packers services for shifting purpose but if you are doing this job all by yourself then you need to work hard to make a smooth shift. Here are some useful tips to make your job easy, systematic and stress free.
- Make a check list for everything to be done and add things when required and tick them when done. Make a list of all the jobs you need to do before moving out of the house like packing the stuff, clearing the pending bills or rent of owner, neighbours or local shops, milkman, newspaper man, laundryman, maids, etc. Inform them about your moving date.
- After deciding the date of shifting, decide how much packing materials you need to pack your stuff. For delicate items like crockery, vases, glass items, etc. you need to buy bubble packaging. Make a list of required boxes, packing taps and other items to pack the stuff then bring them.

- If your kids are using bus service then inform school authorities about the change of stop.
- Donate or sell the stuff that you no longer need so that you can escape from the unnecessary packing and shifting of such items in advance like old clothes, old toys, piece of furniture, kids’ bikes, cupboards, etc.
- You should clear and clean the place where you were living till now before you move out as it is your moral duty to give the place back to the owner as it was before. If required pay your maid to clean it. It will help in maintaining good relations with the previous owner.
- Keep some cash handy in order to make immediate payments while before and after shifting or for any repairs that may occur at the new place.
- Recheck the checklist so that you won’t miss anything.
