Let me take you to one such spring that is popular for its crystal clear water. Located at the Verna plateau the Kesarval Spring is just 22 kilometres away from the capital city of Goa, Panaji. The Verna plateau is situated at the Panaji – Margao Highway. It is quite near the village of Cortalim which comes under Mormugao Taluka in South Goa District. Though in hot summers you cannot see this beautiful spring but in rainy season the beauty of this spring is outstanding.If we go into depth then we come to know that the word Kesarval is a Konkani word which means Eagle. There is a colony of Eagles near this spring on the high cliff that is why this spring got its name Kesarval spring. This spectacular spring puffs out from rocky projections and falls from the height like a fountain. The crystal clear water of the spring is said to have medicinal properties and that is why it works like a spa for the visitors who take a dip in the clear spring to rejuvenate and energise their body and soul. Nowadays it has become a favourite place among tourists in monsoon. Initially the approach path to the Kesarval Spring was a rough and zigzag but later in the year 1950 proper steps were built to reach the spring conveniently. The Kesarval Spring is being made into a tourist spot by the Tourism Department of Goa. Rolling topography along with betel – nut palm trees are found here. The uneven rolling lands make this place more attractive. To reach Kesarval spring you can take bus from Mapusa, Margao or Panaji. The route goes through National Highway. The other way which can be more adventurous is through River Zuari. One can come here by crossing the bridge over this river. Visiting this place in rainy season does make sense as you can enjoy the stunning sparkling water spring, a healing bathing experience along with the magnificent dense woodlands all around the place.The best time to visit this place is monsoon that is from June till September. One needs to travel just 22 kilometres from Panaji to reach Kesarval Spring that is situated off the National Highway 17.
