We need to check all the cracks on the exterior walls of our house or the apartment building. These cracks lead to water seepage inside the walls and interior dampness. These crack whether small or big must be given immediate attention to avoid major problems later. They must be filled before rains by professional.2. Roof tops must be checked for any leakages. If there are any leakages from the roof tops or any cracks then repair them as soon as possible. If there are multiple leakages then go for water proofing for the entire roof top to prevent damage to the structure.3. Make sure there are proper rain water outlets on the roof or balconies and their smooth functioning must be ensure by removing any trash or dry leaves stuck in the mouth of the outlet.4. Sometimes we find it that the level of the floor of roof or balcony is not proper thus leading to water stagnation in certain area. When there are no rains during the day time open all the windows and doors to let the fresh air come in and to remove dampness inside the house. You may switch on the fans to fasten the process.10. Wet shoes, slippers, raincoats or umbrellas must be dried in the sun or under the fan to prevent bad smell and dampness.11. During rainy season your cupboards also feel dampness causing many problems to you and your clothes. Camphor is very useful in absorbing moisture. You can use it in your cupboards to keep it dry.12. Dampness also causes silverfishes in the shelves. Using Neem leaves or cloves can help in controlling these tiny insects and protect your clothing.13. If you have spread the carpet in the living room then roll it back before the rains as rains lead to high moisture in the air and the carpet tend to absorb that thus causing bacteria growth. It is recommended to remove carpets during monsoon to be healthy and keep the environment healthy.14. It is necessary to keep the bathrooms dry during rains otherwise the dampness with smell will be in the air. A dry bathroom is inviting not wet and stinky one. Switch on the exhaust fans if there is one or switch on the fans in the room where the bathroom is. Using a good quality of wiper is essential to wipe out excess water from the bathroom floor after every use. Using fragrance tablets or scented candles helps in reducing bad odor.15. Power supply is usually a problem during rainy season due to heavy rains or strong winds or any other reason. It is advisable to check your inverter batteries or generators or flash lights for smooth functioning when the need arise.
