On 16th February 2005, the global leader in container terminal operations, Dubai Ports (DP) World declared signing of an agreement with Cochin Port Trust (CoPT) to construct, develop and operate a massive infrastructure project that has the potential to revolutionize the future of world trade. The project was none other than India’s first transshipment terminal and country’s first container terminal that would operate in Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Kochi International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) also famously known as Vallarpadam Terminal. The initiative to set-up this exceptional container terminal in Kochi was to cater the escalating container trade in our country. ICTT, developed in Vallarpadam is looked upon as a major project which would make Kochi a prime hub of the shipping sector. India will get a lot of exposure as it may not have to depend much on the international port to carry out transshipment. DP World will be operating this port for 30 years and later the operation process will be handed over to CoPT. The project was inaugurated on 11th February, 2011 by laying the foundation stone by our honorable Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh and in presence of many other dignitaries.Project Overview:The strategic location of the container terminal is an added advantage as it is surrounded by prominent foreign ports like Singapore, Salalah and Colombo. The soft ground conditions and the potential for ground settlement were the key challenges while designing this project. Hence to make the ground favorable for development of the port infrastructure, the design integrates ground improvement techniques to strengthen the existing ground condition. This enormous project comprises of deep water dock of 600 m along with rail container terminal, container storage yards and container freight station facilities. ICTT is undeniably one of the most outstanding infrastructural developments in India. The project is still under-construction. It will be developed in three phases. The first phase has already been completed while the second phase is expected to get completed by 2014, followed by the third phase.Striking and unique features of ICTT:Faster Vessel turn around: To ensure faster loading and discharge from vessels, the project boasts 4 Super Post Panamax Quay cranes and 2 Mobile Harbor Cranes that is competent of twin lifts.Navis Terminal Operating System: The most extensively used terminal operating system across the world, Navis Terminal Operating System is being used by ICTT.24/7 and 365 days terminal operation: No public holidays, national holidays or any kind of holidays, the terminal operates all 365 days and round the clock.Theft free operations: Security is on high-level hence there is no tension of theft or pilferage. The terminal security is present at all strategic locations.E- invoicing: As online is a buzz around the world, even this project is planning to come up with e –invoicing where the registered lines can get the details of all the containers online by just logging in.Multi modal connectivity: Very few terminals are benefited with multi modal connectivity and Vallarpadam Terminal is one of those few. It boasts direct rail connectivity to the terminal with longest rail bridge in India. ICTT is well connected to Coimbatore, Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Nagpur etc. The coastal connectivity also links it to the country’s west coast. It also boasts a dedicated 4 lane highway which connects it to many major cities.ICTT assures efficiency and has a great potential to open up new avenues of global business. The project is also anticipated to bring positive changes in the state of Kerala which will lead to more development.займ на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн
