Delhi tour is not complete without paying a visit to the All India War Memorial located at the heart of New Delhi. This War Memorial is popularly called India Gate. India Gate is well known landmark in Delhi. India Gate is a National Monument which was started in the year 1921 as the foundation stone was laid in the year 1921 but construction completed in the year 1931 and it was unveiled to public in the year 1933.This memorial monument is designed by Edwin Lutyens. The inspiration of the design is drawn from Arc de Triomphe of Paris. The Arc de Triomphe itself is inspired by the Roman monument Arch of Titus. It was created in the memory of the Indian soldiers who lost their lives in the World War I and the third Anglo-Afghan Wars while fighting on behalf of British who ruled our country during those periods. About 90000 Indian soldiers died in these wars that were fought for the benefit of British. I personally feel that if this amount of soldiers would have fought for our own independence then we would have got independence much earlier instead of wasting valuable lives in wars against another country on behalf of a third country.Though this memorial is dedicated to the Indian Soldiers but under the memorial statue of British George V was installed which was later removed along with other British era statues. The structure is made up of red Bharatpur stone, pale sandstone and granite. India Gate is now serves the site for the Indian Army’s Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The new addition to India Gate is ‘Amar Jawan Jyoti’ which means the flame of the immortal soldier. It was added under the arc of India Gate long after the independence of India from British Rule. It is an everlasting flame which burns day and night at the memorial in order to make us remember the soldiers who lost their precious lives to save our nation during the India Pakistan war in the year December 1971.The actual construction work of the memorial started only in the year 1924. The height of India Gate is 42 meters. The location of the Gate is such that many significant routes are spreading out from here. India Gate has a hexagon complex. It has a diameter of about 625 meters while it has area of about 306000 m2. You can see the names of 13,516 British and Indian soldiers who lost their lives in the year 1919 in North Western Frontier in World War I. The India Gate is adorned with the symbol of regal suns on both the sides. Word India is written on both the sides on the monument. There are green lawns and fountains that give the India Gate a magnificent look in the night. The lawns around India Gate can be seen full of visitors in the evenings when the memorial is lighted brightly. It is a favourite spot for people living nearby to spend summer evenings. On 26th January on the occasion of Republic Day every year the Parade passes through the India Gate after starting from Rashtrapati Bhavan.Though it is a War Memorial but how many of us actually go there to remember those heroes. The surrounding area of India Gate serves a perfect set up for enjoyment and picnics as you can see camels giving rides to kids, sugar candy sellers, ice candy sellers, soap bubble sellers, balloon sellers and many more attracting good number of people and kids to the area. I hope when you will visit this place do remember those soldiers before spending the pleasant evening at this perfectly blended picnic spot.RUCHI MAHAJANзайм на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн
