Adding twist to construction is a popular trend among the high-rise towers. The construction plan to give a spiral shape is very different from the usual structure buildings; it is a challenging and innovative process. Though there are not much twisted shape buildings around the globe, but ones which are present, are truly exceptional and identified for its outstanding concept. One such twisted building which is also declared as the tallest tower in Sweden, the Turning Torso is a real work of art. Inspired by the sculpture of twisted human body, Turning Torso is twisted up to 90% from the base to the top floor. Santiago Calatrava, globally-recognized Spanish architect is the man behind this wonderful piece of work. It was the great vision of this architect which made a statue to transfer into a shape of building. The construction process started from the year 2001, continued to over 4 years and eventually, on 27th August, 2005, the inauguration took place. The moment building was constructed, it instantly became new milestone in Sweden as well as in Nordic countries. Turning Torso didn’t only prove to be a turning point for Santiago but also in the construction history of Sweden.
Project specification:The 190 metres colossal building consists of 54 floors. This twisted tower represents absolutely fresh commercial spaces and residential apartments. There are total 9 cubes, 5 floors in each cube. The bottom two floors comprise of office spaces while from 3rd floor to 9th floor there are 147 residential units. One floor between all cubes is dedicated for carrying out various activities like conferences, gym or rooms to enjoy the view. The top two floors are specially designed for taking the pleasure of magnificent panoramic sight. There are also restaurants that offer first class food. There are in total 5 elevators, 3 are used or residential purpose and two for official use.Not only the striking design but even the materials used for the construction are of high-standards which makes it strong and enduring. Concrete, glass, steel and recyclable aluminum are the main ingredients of this strong- standing twisted tower. To avoid the improper bend or lean, the tower rests on blocks driven into a base of solid limestone foundation which is 49 ft under the ground level. Automatic Climbing Structure was used to build the twirled structure. The glass and aluminum façade is too complex. In order to match the twisted shape, the building windows are inclined between 0 and 7 degrees, either towards interior of western façade or outwards on the eastern façade.Apart from the cutting-edge technology in construction, the building is also eco-friendly. The residents in Turning Torso can be benefited with an environment friendly lifestyle. The building consists of energy-efficient features. It allows the residents to save on electricity and water. The award-winning Spanish architect, Santiago Calatrava is known for his spectacular construction work like bridges, train station and other civil engineering projects. Turning Torso is this creative architect’s first residential project. Santiago Calatrava’s initial project itself has gained a lot of momentum. The project have already been honored with an esteemed award for being the most technically attractive and stunning concrete building in the world during its four years of construction.займ на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн
