We usually struggle with space in our bedrooms that are usually smaller these days as compared to older time. When you have a queen bed, more than half of your bedroom is taken over by this important furniture piece and in the remaining space you need to fit a three to four door wardrobe, a mirror dresser, bed side stands, a small table for laptop or your music system or for other stuff. Now the rest of space you will need to move around. Still you find your bedroom always messy and full of clutter. It gives really tiring look when you come from work and find things everywhere. As per Vaastu a bedroom must be a place to relax and energies you not for getting more tired. It is better to have less furniture in the bedroom as each and every article consumes energy. Smoothness in the arrangement makes the environment peaceful and calm that is the need of the hour as you want to relax and get stress free not to add on that stuff. There are some very practical yet simple solutions that you can follow to make your room more calm, clutter free and spacious.
- We all love shopping for clothing. Isn’t it. Every time we buy new clothing and try to fit it in the wardrobe that has limited space. Actually the simple rule here is clothes that you do not use anymore; retire them on a timely basis. You sometime find a shirt in the closet that all of a sudden came to your hand while looking for something else and you didn’t even remember that you have this shirt. Remove the clothes that you no longer wear but think that you will use them sometime. Rearrange your closet time to time to make space for new clothes.
- Look for space in the wardrobe. Usually it is seen in most of the cases that the upper and the lower part of the wardrobe is usually underutilised. You can call it human nature that whatever we find easy we do that. The section that is just in front of us is over stuffed. If you think I am wrong then go your wardrobe and check it out yourself. You can use this space in a better way so that things outside the closet can get space inside and bedroom can be made clutter free.
- Installing hangers to hang ties and other such things is a good idea. Installation of small sections can help in organising stuff in a better way and things can be find easily if kept in allocated section.
- Always remember to use the closet efficiently and no part of it should be kept unused. While choosing the sections mind it that things which are less frequently used can be kept on the upper most section while daily use clothes and accessories can be kept at an easy reach position in the wardrobe.
- You can have a loft above the wardrobe in the same finish to look elegant and make some more space in the bedroom. your suit cases and luggage trolleys can fit here easily.
- Use the space under the bed either by having some huge drawers or trolley system or just make a skirt around the bed like your grandma did if other options are not working for you. Now you can have space to fit boxes or other stuff under the bed. It is easy to slide boxes in and out from here. If it is not a box or trolley bed than you can actually wasting a good space in your bed. You can keep your daily beddings like comforters and sheets in easy to pull trolleys in your bed that will make your job easy as well as make your bedroom free from beddings.
- It is a good idea to keep things in reach according to season. For example raincoats and umbrellas should be kept undercover when rainy season has gone. Likewise after winter all winter wear can be kept under the bed box or in the upper section of closet. In this way you can find it easy to maintain your bedroom clutter free and welcoming.
- If you want to have your music system and television in your bedroom then use your wall instead of floor space. you can have your music system on a glass shelf fixed on wall. It will look more inviting. An LCD can be fixed on the wall to without taking much of the room.
- For decorative pieces as well go for wall shelves instead for a table on the floor. Do remember that never use too heavy objects that are bulky in design or much carved, etc. always go for light pieces and light and small wall shelves otherwise you won’t be able to relax. Remember you have a living room for such a decoration but the bedroom is for relieving stress so keep it simple yet elegant as per your taste.
- The most important of all is using the hidden storage spaces that are not in sight but can be used very well.
