Years back Pune city was called a green city then why this tag is not true in current Pune. The growing population has wiped off most of the green cover of this beautiful place in order to make more and more concrete jungles. Once blessed by Mother Nature Pune had uncountable green trees, clean water filled rivers, small natural streams, spectacular hills all around with a maximum temperature around 38 degree centigrade making it a place like hill station. but today’s Pune boost a look like a metro city with good infrastructure, civic facilities, employment opportunities on the cost of losing its natural bliss. It is very disheartening. We are so lost in development of city that we have forgotten the most important element of the city and that is its natural environment. It may seem profitable to politicians to transform the peaceful green city into a high class metro but for the residents it is an irreparable loss which needs immediate action. If the people on higher authorities would have been honest the present state of city would have been different. The hills would have not been cut, trees would have been protected from cutting, natural water sources could be used for drinking but the things are now completely changed into negative forms. As the population is growing loads of waste is being produced daily and there is no proper system to manage this tons of waste and the result is that it is mixed in the natural water bodies without treating thus contaminating rivers, streams, nearby land areas and causing danger to the water lives like fishes, plants and other animals. There are NGOs that are working for the betterment of city and to prevent the environment but the efforts are not gaining momentum due to lack of support from all of us and the government. It is not anyone persons or a single organizations responsibility to prevent the environment and natural cover of city but each individual who is living in the city should take the matter seriously. We need to stop mixing the waste into river bodies and to solve this problem we should go back to the source of waste production. If we try to reduce the production of waste it will help in the positive results. We need to start waste treatments units at source that means installation of such mechanism in every apartment society, colony, business centres, Commercial areas, medical centres, etc. can help in reducing the waste to get mixed in natural bodies thus helping in creating a positive environment for residents of city. Growth and development should take place but the nature should not be neglected. Environment friendly ways should be adopted while creating townships or commercial parks. There should be a balance between growth and natural environment otherwise the day is not far when we will lose the battle of survival due to contamination of air, water, food. We need to think it this way what are we doing to protect our surroundings? What are we leaving for our coming generation? If the present state of pollution of air, water and food continue then within 10 to 20 years our next generation will have to face lots of diseases born due to not having clean air, water and food to keep them moving and credit goes to us who cannot make the environment liveable and still not wake up to take the matter of conserving the natural sources seriously.Recently I came to know about an eco technology to clean the waste water effectively in minimum cost. But the sad part is that government is either not convinced or does not seem interested in materialising solutions to the biggest problem of city today that is management of waste. According to this green technology different types of green bridges are built on the water streams to filter the water into clean water thus making the water safe to mix in the river bodies. These bridges first clear the solid waste from flowing water; absorb the metals present in the water and then special bacteria culture treatment to degrade the dead organic matter. In Anandnagar Nallah this technology is used is functioning successfully by creating three green bridges. I personally feel that if cannot solve the problem yourself then let other do and support then instead of pulling them down. After all each one of us equally responsible for creating mounts of waste each day and the consequences of this untreated waste pollution are fatal. For instance if we see the statistics of medical reports, there is a multi fold rise in cases of cancer, drug resistant TB, deadly flu cases, upper respiratory diseases, malaria, dengue and many more. All these are directly or indirectly related to the pollution of air, water, soil and food. If we do not stand for our environment then it will stand against us and then we need to pay high prices in terms of incurable diseases or life of our loved ones. Here are some simple steps to promote a green environment for you & coming generation:Stop using plastics at any cost.
- Segregate waste at source.
- Support green technologies in house and outside.
- Install sewage treatment units.
- Do not throw garbage of any kind in water bodies whether it is religious or non religious.
- Install effective waste management technologies at societies, townships, homes to minimise waste.
- Recycle items that can be recycled.
- Do not waste clean water as it will become a luxury in future due lack of clean water resources on earth.
- Plant more and more trees where ever possible. In balconies, gardens, hills, open spaces, offices, schools, etc. encourage kids to grow plants.
- Conserve energy at home and offices.
- Eco friendly buildings should be promoted to conserve environment.
- Industrial waste should be treated and neutralised by using worms before draining into water bodies.
- Take part actively in clean environment movements.
- Educate people to keep the water bodies whether small streams or river clean free from solid and liquid wastes.
There may be more effective ideas to make the task of waste management easy and practical in the city. I welcome all the suggestions from conscious readers and residents of city to improve the quality of life in the city.Ruchi Mahajanзайм на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн
