Whenever you build or purchase a house the safety and security in and outside the house are the main concern. But most of the times we couldn’t catch those basic safety points that are actually life saving. Home safety becomes more important when elderly or kids are residing in the home as they are more prone to the accidents.Nowadays builders are taking in consideration the home safety and security features while constructing the homes because people are getting a bit conscious about these measures being provided by the builders in the homes. Actually it is responsibility of both the purchaser as well as the builder not to ignore any of these measures in home.Here is a list of safety features that one should consider while buying a home:1. Anti skid tiles in bathrooms and balconies to avoid life threatening accidents and injuries.2. Wall hung WC should be avoided and S trap should be preferred.3. Panic alarm system if elderly residing at home.4. Fire alarms to prevent fire outbursts and immediate help.5. Smoke detectors (in case of gas leaking it can sound loud to catch the attention)6. Cockroach preventing traps in the kitchen, sinks, bathrooms for health safety.7. Garbage crusher in the kitchen sinks to avoid chocking of the pipeline.8. The paints used for inner and outer surface to paint the home should be non toxic, lead free and eco friendly. Apex paint should be used on all surfaces exposed to weathers.9. Proper Currying should be done to avoid leakages inside the home. As leakages lead to mould development in the house.10. Water proofing chemicals (Dr. Fix it and roof) should be mixed with cement while casting of water proofing slabs in toilets and terraces.11. Proper electric wiring’s and covered electric wiring boxes to prevent shocks.12. The high voltage points should be covered or openable when in use.13.  There should be a different circuit for TV and phone in DB set to avoid disturbances and electrical faults.14. The structure of the building should be earthquake resistant.15. Common areas should have fire sprinklers for immediate action.16. Balcony projection should not be more than one third of the room space.Security measures include:1.
