GMC Presented a Budget of Rs 60.57 Crore

gandhinagarGandhinagar: Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) has presented its third budget on January 31st, 2014. Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) has set a budget of Rs. 60.57 crore which included no introduction of new taxes in the rulebook.The Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation has planned to introduce an on-line tax payment facility for citizens of Gandhinagar; this system will help citizens to pay their property taxes and other taxes in much easier ways. Gandhinagar citizens can pay their taxes through their credit cards and debit cards with the introduction of online tax payment facility.P Swaroop, in-charge municipal commissioner had presented the budget before standing committee chairman with comprehensive details. The proposed budget by GMC states that GMC has dad a revenue income of Rs 49.07 crore. Out of which Rs 31.5 crore will be spent in the budget year which means that GMC has revenue surplus of Rs 17.57 crore.The GMC spends about Rs 18 crore every year for various administrative expenses and it has spent about Rs 2.37 crore on outdoor events in the city. The GMC is getting a grant from the state government for about Rs 23.32 crore and the GMC has acquired an income from taxes which is estimated at Rs 21.2 crore.This year with the budget the GMC would spend about Rs 2 crore for developing infrastructure for the urban poor and various other factors.
