Looking for religious destinations around Bangaluru city to get blessings of almighty then let me take you to the ancient Hindu Shrine Ghati Subramanya temple which is located 60 kilometres from Bangalore close to Doddaballapura. The main deities in the shrine are Lord Subramanya (Karthikeya) and Laxmi Narsimha. The holy shrine is situated on a small hill and attracts hundreds of devotees daily. One can reach at this place by taking the road via Doddaballapur which is just seventeen kilometres from Ghati Subramanya. The idols of both the lords are said to be originated from this place only. The seven headed cobra with the image of lord Karthikeya made from a single stone is very impressive. The speciality of this temple is that the deities in the temple are not placed in one direction. They are just opposite to each other and to look them together one needs to see in the huge mirror installed at the rear of the chamber. The lord Karthikeya is facing east while lord Narasimha is facing west direction.It is said that childless couples come here and make vows. Their wishes are fulfilled by the lord. Several idols of snakes are installed close to the temple as a part of a ritual. There are thousands of such snake idols are here. You can enjoy the Prasadam (sweet) from the ant hills located here. The appearance of the temple from front at the entrance is quite similar to those of typical South Indian temples. This place is considered to be an important Snake worshipping centre. It is very common here to perform “Sarp Dosha”poojas.At the time of Brahmarathotsav on Pushya Shudda Shasti special rituals are observed here. On the occasion of Narsimha Jayanti major festival is organised and celebrated. Large number of devotees can be sighted during the festival as it serves as a popular pilgrimage among people. There are arrangements for lunch for the devotees free of cost every day.
