Ganpatiphule – Holy Shrine Amidst Stunning Beaches

When we talk about the beaches around Pune we cannot forget to mention the spectacular beaches of Ganpatiphule which is small place having around hundred houses comes under Ratnagiri District in Maharashtra state. It is counted as one of the best beaches in the Konkan region because of the serenity of this small but charismatic village. Ganpatiphule is also recognised as the birth place of a great Indian leader and freedom contributor Shri Lokmanya Tilak. If believed it says that Hindu lord Ganpati from Gule had come to a place called Phule after a lady has made some unpleasant remark. Thus this place named after him and called Ganpatipule.It is said that the idol of Ganpati situated in the temple has emerged from the soil and said to be around four hundred years old. The idol is west facing unlike other idols in different temples in the state. You can connect it like the divine god is protecting the western cost. The temple situated at the bottom of the hills is very beautifully carved in red and peach colour having golden Shikhar. For completing a round (pradakshina) around the temple devotees go around the hill.The sea shore of Ganpatipule is exceptionally beautiful and the flora here seems to be adding charm to its beauty. Other than flora one can notice the beautiful spread of coconut trees and mangroves here. The sunsets and sunrise are the magnificent to be watched peacefully.
