In the past candles used to be the source of light for general activities after sun down. In present times with the advent of electricity candles have lost their importance as a daily necessity. But they have remained with us as a signifier of celebration. There are various kinds of candles. Among these the most popular ones are:
Taper candles: These candles are found in almost all homes. These are narrow and straight candles that vary between 6 to 18 inches. They have to be placed on proper candle holders to keep them upright.
Pillar candles: generally these are round, pillar like candles. They can also come in shapes like square or polygonal. They can be either tall (above 6 inches) or short (2-3 inches). They come in various colors and since they provide a good amount of surface, they are perfect for wax etched artwork.
Votive candles: These are small (generally one inch in diameter and 2 inches in height) candles that were originally used for votive offerings. Originally they were white in color but now they are available in an array of colors and surface designs.
Container or filled candles: these candles are filled into heat resistant glass or porcelain wares. Like votive candles, they do need separate holders.
Gel candles: Gel candles are made from synthetic hydrocarbons. They are rubbery, colorful and transparent. They are filled into different shaped container and are used more for decorative purposes rather than for burning for light.
Floating candles: These candles are made into different shapes and designs and can float on water.
Tealight candles: These candles are 1inch in diameter and ½ inch in height. The candles are filled into small metal container. They got their name from the fact that previously they were used to keep tea warm.As there are different kinds of candles there are also different kinds of candle holders. Practically any surface used to hold a candle can be called as a candle holder. But keeping in mind that now candle holders also have a decorative purpose we can enlist some of the types of candle holders.
Specialty candles: these candles are specially designed into three dimensional shapes or objects by using moulds.
Candlesticks: Like taper candles, this is the most common type of candle holder. In fact candlesticks are made for taper candles only. They may or may not have drip guard. The candle is held steady by dropping some molten candle into the candlestick and then quickly placing the candle over it.
Open candleholder: These candleholders consist of a wide, open surface on which the candle is placed. Generally it is made for pillar candles but and candle that can stand by itself can be placed on open candleholders. Often the surface has a spike on it to dig into the candle and hold it steady.
Lantern candleholders: These candle holders are shaped as lanterns and the candle is placed inside the holder. These candleholders are usually made of heat resistant materials such as glass and metal. In case of metal, different cutouts are made on the covering surface so that the light from within emerges in the respective patterns. If colored glass is used then colored light is emitted. Ground glass lantern candleholders give out a soft, romantic light.
Fitted candleholders: These candle holders are shaped so that votive or tealight candles are fitted perfectly into them. They are made of glass, metal or clay. They contain the melted wax and look beautiful if more than one candle is lighted together.Give an exclusive make-over to your home decor with candles and feel refreshed for the day!займ на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн
