As the weekend approaches our kids get excited more than us as they want to go out with us to enjoy. We usually end up taking them to a movie that means spending time watching the screen or to mall where they find game zone kind of places to get attracted to. I personally feel that these kinds of entertainment are not healthy or should I say we are not spending quality time with our kids. But what if we take them to a garden as our parents did. May be it won’t sound like a modern way to entertain our kids but it is indeed the best way to enjoy and entertain kids. For overall development of kids playing in the open spaces in the lap of nature is the perfect enjoyment. While playing in the garden their physical, social, visual and mental development takes place. Apart from these they get to learn new things and takes interest in nature. As Pune city is becoming concrete jungle there are still few places where you can take your kids on a weekend evening. Before these spaces vanish let them enjoy and understand the importance of nature. Let me take you to one such garden which is one of the favourites of children of all ages. The Dinosaur Park which is also called Jijamata Udyan is quite popular among kids who once visited this place. This garden is located in Pimple Gaurav in Pimpri Chinchwad area.The speciality of this park is hidden in the name of the park. It has a life like sized Dinosaur which is allowed to touch by kids and that is interesting. This single dinosaur in the park is quite a crowd puller and mostly kids. This forty feet heighted dinosaur looks quite real and kids love to climb on it and parents love to take picture of it with their kids. This garden is spread over almost five acres of land and was created with a cost of Rs. 2 crore. Apart from the dinosaur this garden has a real good well paved track of 625 meters to jog or walk making its way around the circumference of the garden. There are plenty of trees planted here and there in order to make the garden more natural and inviting. Artificial water stream with wooden over bridge at some crossings passing from the park gives charming look to the park. The circular water fountain at the entrance welcomes you to the park. Then another major feature of a water fall invites you to climb on the stones. This part of park is mostly crowded with adventurers who climb up at the top of the fall. The bamboo plantation looks very elegant at the centre. For small kids there are instruments like slides, swings, jungle gym and many more. The open space allows kids to play different games on the green grass. There are sufficient chairs are installed to relax after jogging or indulge in naughty activities of kids. Most of these sitting arrangements are in shade to protect you from heat of sun.Though this garden is easily located near the PMPML’s Pimple Gaurav Bus Stand but you will not struggle to find parking space for your vehicle as it has a parking lot just outside the garden. It may not be very big but still it is better than nothing and I should not forget to mention that it is free for all. Though it is a public garden but still it is very well maintained and well groomed. Restroom and drinking water facilities are available in the garden. A very nominal fee is charged to enter the garden and that is Rs. 2 for adults and Rs. 1 for kids who are less than 12 years. The amount collected from this is used to maintain the garden. Food stalls at the park add to the enjoyment of kids. There is a electronic game stall and various small vendors can be seen selling balloons, toys and other items just outside the park. This garden is definitely a delight for the residents of Pimple Gaurav but people come from other parts of Pune to visit this park.
