Digitization of Land Records to be Done in Haveli, Mulshi Talukas

 

Digitized-Land-RecordsPune: With the implementation of new system, citizens will now be able to view the digitized format of their land records. This will reduce the search time significantly and will allow quick look ups of the land right details. Previously it would take almost 5-7 months, but with the new digitization system, manual work will be eliminated completely.

The computerization work has commenced with 16 lakh documents already scanned. Within the next three months remaining work is expected to be completed. The necessary hardware and infrastructure were being set up since January 2012. The equipments for scanning and digitization were installed to regulate the digitization process. Document scanning is halfway through in the Haveli and Mulshi Taluka.

According to the Director of the Land Record Office, this new system will benefit citizens and officials alike. There will be no need to search for land details manually once the records have been digitized. Previously if the records were not found then task was put on hold causing even further delay in detail collection. The scanning and digitization process will not only ease the process of searching but will also fasten it. Records will now be maintained in a neat format curbing fraudulent activities.

Officials will be trained to handle the system, once records have been digitized.Plans to implement similar system in other record offices in the state is under discussion. The digitization process will put an end to the undue delays that have been encountered in the manual processing mechanism.
