Hyderabad is an interesting city located in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh with lots of attractions including historic monuments and museums to modern entertainment centres. Amidst the natural beauty this city has many green parks, gardens as well as animal reserves. Let me take you first to one of the most important historical monument of city. This monument is known as Charminar or Four Minarets. This popular landmark of Hyderabad is situated quite at the centre of old Hyderabad city. The magnificent minaret is surrounded by active sparkling market where you will always find good number of people. This grand Charminar was built centuries ago in the year 1591 by Sultan (emperor) Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah in order to owner his wife Bhagmati. There is another version of this story that said that original Charminar was created in wood as a tomb of Muslim saint Imam Husain in order to safeguard the city from epidemic Cholera that occurred in late sixteenth century. When the disease subsided the same Charminar was created fully in stone just like the old one at the same place. This splendid structure was created just after sultan shifted his capital from Golconda to Hyderabad. To create this edifice engineers and architects were called from Arabia, Persia, Turkey and different parts of India in order to make it a special landmark. The important fact about this structure is that it is now a global icon because it is called “the Arc De Triomphe of East”. It is a big honour for the creator of this minaret. The structure has four beautifully carved minarets in four corners. The basic shape of the structure resembles to a mosque. It is square in shape with four minarets that is why it is named Charminar or Four Minarets in English. The height of the structure is 20 metres. There are four huge arches on each side and they open into a square (plaza). The width of the arc is 11 metres while the height is 20 metres from plinth and from the top everything seems tiny. The minarets are much higher than they seem to be. From the roof itself the four towers goes upwords approximately 24 meters high and each tower (minaret) has four storeys. So now you can imagine how high these minarets are. They are actually 48.7 metres high from the ground. All these four minars are delicately carved and give an impressive look to the entire structure. You can see that this monument is surrounded by markets and other important structures that add elegance to this monument. The famous places around are Chow Mohalla palace, Shahali Banda, Kali Kamn, Laad Bazaar, Patthar Gatti, Mecca Mosque, etc. the Charmnar reflects two architectural styles namely Mughal or Islamic as well as Indian. You are allowed to go on top of the structure and from here you can enjoy the magnificent wide view of entire old city of Hyderabad. The Charminar is one of the most recognised and charming historic monuments of India.Best time to visitFrom October to MarchVisiting timingsFrom 9.00 am to 5.30 pm everydayAddressTelephone Exchange, Pathergatti Rd,Andhra Pradesh- 500082Contact number+91-022-24521290RUCHI MAHAJANзайм на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн
