The first Transformers release kept everyone’s jaws dropped; huge robotic characters, astonishing wheels, great structures everything was perfect, and more appropriately enormous. Remembering the huge structure of the Allspark from the movie, I always thought it wouldn’t be possible for humans to create such great structure in reality, but the CCTV headquarter from Beijing, China has proved me wrong. The CCTV Headquarter of China’s structure highly resembles the huge Allspark structure from the movie. The structure even takes its foot forward with its architectural design of a giant three dimensional loop of 234 meter vertically. The headquarter of the CCTV is a monumental construction which had become world famous long before its actual completion date and now it holds a higher place in the world of architecture with its vast structure of glass and steel. The structure is a dazzling invention in the skyscrapers looking like a gigantic arch when looked for the distance.
ArchitectureThe gigantic structure of the CCTV headquarter is designed by Rem Koolhaas and Ole Scheeren of OMA and complex engineering design of the structure was done by Arup includes two vertical section one of 234 meters and other of 194 meters which are connected with two horizontal sections, one running along the ground and other bridging the two vertical structure in air which are made up of two pieces that converge in a right angle. The vertical sections of the structure contain offices and horizontal sections houses production facilities. The structure seems like a benign robot hence Beijingers have nicknamed the structure as Big Shorts. The most infatuating thing about the structure is that it seems to take change as you pass it. The building takes several different shapes when looked from the different places in the city; it no longer portrays a single image on the canvas of Beijing skyline. The building evinces a quite, monumental granduaer with soft grey glass used in the structure which perfectly echoes the overcast of the Beijing sky. The architect Scheeren designed the grey structure with a fantasy of making its façade disappearing into the grey sky of the city and viewer should be left wondering about it.Fast Facts of Structure
