Aquariums are quite fascinating place for everyone specially kids. Kids love marine life. As it is said what we do not know a lot about is always exciting. Aquariums are the places where marine lives are kept in an underwater like circumstances to display, educate, conserve and understand the marine life. You get to know how beautiful creatures are there under water. There are not many Aquariums in the country on a big scale but the aquarium in Bangalore is worth paying a visit. The Bangalore Aquarium is located on the Kasturba Road. This aquarium is situated just at the entrance of the beautiful garden known as Cubbon Park.The Bangalore Aquarium is founded in the year 1983. The aquarium building is octagonal in shape with three storeys. It has a beautiful display of exotic aquatic life including ornamental fishes, cultivable fishes and others. It is a matter of proud not only for the Aquarium but for Bangalore city that this Aquarium is the second largest Aquarium in the country. The Aquarium is maintained and controlled by the Fisheries Department of State Government. Though we cannot compete with nature but it is tried here to give the marine life the same environment as they get in their natural habitat and that does help a lot to these creature grow in a nature like surroundings.There are three floors of the aquarium building. The first floor occupies fourteen big water tanks housing varieties of bigger cultivable fishes while on second and third floors you can see two rows of small and big tanks. The lower row has forty six small tanks and twenty three tanks are kept in the upper row. This section of aquarium displays magnificent ornamental aquatic lives (fishes). You can find the office of aquarium at the ground floor of the building where there is a laboratory too. There is an outlet also there to buy fish food here.The exotic as well as indigenous variety of fishes can be seen here in a manmade natural habitat including cultivable and ornamental fishes. These fishes are from fresh waters. Here are the names of some of the fishes residing in the aquarium:

- Indian tiger barb
- Blue gourami
- Gold fish
- Fresh water prawns
This place does give you an idea about amazing aquatic life and various marine species. It should be a must visit place in your list of Bangalore exploration. The timings of the Bangalore Aquarium are from 10 am to 7.30 pm every day except Thursdays.
