We always choose means to make our lives easier. Technology has made our lives easier and now throughout the day we depend on some or the other technical device to make our lives easier. One of the devices that we choose to make our lives easier is an automobile. It can be a two wheeler or a four wheeler. Owning any kind of personal vehicle gives us independence of movement that we come to enjoy once we get used to it. But as the number of personally owned vehicles is increasing every day, the world is facing a lot of problems. Even if we keep aside the problems of the world like pollution, global warming, and people spending almost a quarter of their time stuck in traffic jams etc. we still have to deal with a major problem every day and that is the problem of parking. The increased number of automobiles means public parking lots turning into war zones on festive days or weekends. But the problem is dragged to our doorsteps when parking space problems arise among the residents of an apartment.People living in apartments have to share a common parking lot. All apartment buildings are to have parking space but our law does not specify any guidelines for parking space in apartment. What is worse is that in most cases the apartment dwellers themselves have no respect for whatever space is available for their vehicles and park in a manner that can cause major inconvenience to others. But in case you do not want to come across as an inconsiderate and ill mannered resident, take care to follow some parking etiquettes. After all, most of your neighbours may not ever come to know you personally but assume a lot about you as a person by the way you behave in a public space like the parking lot.
- Do not park you vehicle in a manner so as to take up two parking spaces. This is especially important in case the space is limited. If you park in an arbitrary manner someone might try to forcefully move your vehicle, scratch it while trying to squeeze in their own vehicle beside yours or ask you to move your vehicle (and they will not be in a very good mood when they ask you to do this). If you want to avoid being involved in uncomfortable situations, park your vehicle decently.
- Most apartments have some rules for parking lots such as – you cannot place your personal things other than your vehicle in the parking lot. Abide by them.
- If you are having a party and have invited people who will have vehicles of their own, make sure that their vehicles are parked in places specified for visitors. If no certain area is specified, ask them to park their vehicles out of everyone’s way.
- Many big apartments have speed limits in their parking lots. These limits had been posted to control the occurrence of accidents. Therefore respect them.
- Parking lots can often be empty but they are not highways. So do not drive too fast as there might be children or pedestrians. In case you are walking with your children in the parking lot, keep them under control.
- Large parking lots are deserted places. If you see someone suspicious alert the security. While in the parking lot be alert.
