Your visit to Goa can never be complete unless and until you visit this special place known as Flea Market. On every Wednesday you can shop at this market place. It takes place at the Anjuna Beach side. You must be puzzled what is this Flea market all about? Then let me explain you a bit of it and then you will automatically get the idea of what it actually is.In the late 1960’s some hippies (people of foreign origin who roam around the world) started selling their stuff like cameras, electronics, clothes, CDs, bags, etc. at this place. It may be because they needed money or they just want to replace their old stuff whatever the reason was there behind the selling, they brought the trend of flea market in India. The trend turned into large scale and took up the proper market place. You might be familiar of Garage sale in foreign countries in which old, unwanted stuff is being sold in the house garage at a cheap rate. Just like that in this market old and new stuff are sold at a cheap price but the condition is if you know how to bargain otherwise you may end up getting a bad deal. You will find sellers from different parts of world here selling their things. People from all over Goa come to Anjuna market to buy and sell their stuff.The sellers may include Kashmiries, Tibatans, Gujratis, Hippies, etc. The products include artifacts, jewelry (silver, stone, artificial), wooden show pieces, wall hangings, CDs, musical instruments, t- shirts, bed covers, rugs, blankets, joss sticks, beach caps, electronics, spices, souvenirs, gift articles, beach clothing, etc. Actually there more than that and you don’t know what you can see here. It is a huge market with people making too much noise to bring you to their stalls and insist you to buy one thing or the other. You will definitely develop your bargaining skills here as you will be surprised to know the selling price that is being told to you is many fold rise of the actual price, so you can always start bargaining from 50 percent lesser to the price quoted by seller and see the magic. That is why this market is famous for bargaining. It may take some efforts but it is better to enjoy the place and explore the varieties of goods you find here even if you don’t want to buy anything. You may find the sellers hard and pushy initially but do not worry as they will come to an agreement of price as the competition is real tough here and they would not like to lose a single prospective customer.This market place is a good blend of different sellers as well as buyers. You can find almost everything here. Some snacks and drink stalls are also here to comfort your shopping experience. You can get the variety in snacks too from local to national to international. The specialty of this flea market is that here anyone can sell anything and anyone can buy anything. For hard core shoppers it is like a paradise but for a peace lover it is like a fish market.
