Who does not love flying machines? It is always a fascinating subject for all those who are not in the aviation industry. Here is a chance to get closer to these flying machines or aircrafts that are used to be mysterious for general public. Let me take you to a museum entirely dedicated to the aviation world. This museum is known as Air Force Museum. It is located at the outer suburbs of New Delhi in the Palam area of Delhi. Now you might be excited to know what it exhibits then let me tell you that it has rich collection of aeroplanes and arsenal representing the history of Indian Air Force. The museum is situated a little far if you start your journey from the centre of Delhi city but you won’t regret a penny for the distance you travelled after visiting the museum. It is a paradise for those who are deeply interested in aviation or wants to make a career in this field. You may be surprised to know that this museum was the only such museum in entire country before the Naval Air Museum established in Goa in 1998. The museum is not only just a display of aircrafts but a lot more than that. It is a pool of information on Aviation industry in India. You get a chance to see the Indian aviator used in the First World War by the Royal Flying Groups and the crafts used for Kargil War. The exhibits not only displays Aircrafts but also various pictures related to military aviation, Mementoes, Souvenirs, models, etc.The museum is divided into different sections like one is an inside gallery, a hangar and an outside display gallery. The inside gallery exhibits articles from the inception of Indian Air Force in 1932 till recent. They are:
- Pictures depicting history of Indian Air Force
- Memorabilia
- Uniforms
- Personal weapons of different periods
The Hangar which is adjoined to the inside gallery has the following on display:
- Actual aircrafts belonging to different periods
- Various equipments related to Aviation industry
- Weapons
- Anti Aircraft Guns
- Vehicles
- Various assorted articles connected to Air Force
The outside gallery exhibits those aircrafts that cannot be fitted onto the hangar along with War Trophies, Radar Equipments as well as enemy vehicles that were captured during some war. Apart from these displayed aircrafts and other items there are some vintage Aircrafts and Transport Aircraft that can be a visitor’s delight but are actually not for display. The Indian Air Force Vintage Aircrafts are kept well maintained and in proper flying conditions while the huge Transport Aircrafts are kept outside the museum’s limit at the main apron of Palam Air Station’s air base and the reason behind this is lack of space at the Hangar and thus regular visitors can’t explore them. Only on the Air Force Day every year these aircrafts are kept open for public viewing. If you want to take back the memory of your visit to this magnificent museum you can purchase a souvenir in the form of t-shirts, key chains, postal covers, bottle openers, Chinaware, etc. from the small Souvenir shop at the museum.Timings of the museumFrom 10.00 am to 5.00 pmOpening daysThe museum is open from Wednesday to Sunday but is closed on Monday and Tuesday of every week.Entrance feeIt is free of charge.AddressIndian Air Force MuseumPalam Air Force Station, Delhi Cantonment,New Delhi – 110010, IndiaContact number+91-11-25697551-61Extension – 7684 займ на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн
