Rajkot: Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) has strengthen its tax recovery drive in the city, the intensified steps to recover the tax in the city will be taken by the RMC to meet the target of Rs 170 crore before Mach 31.The intensified steps taken by the Rajkot Municipal Corporation include sealing of properties in the city limits; it has sealed 318 properties of the owners who have failed to pay their property tax on time. In another step, the civic body has also detached water connection of 240 houses for not paying their taxes on time.Rajkot Municipal Corporation has already put 58 properties who failed to pay the taxes on auction to recover their property taxes. RMC is also planning to put another 105 properties on auction whose owners have not paid their property taxes.RMC official have taken property tax recovery on a serious scale, they have recovered property tax of Rs 15 lakh in a day from different parts of the city. The RMC has warned property owners before sealing their properties and with such warning many property owners have paid their dues on the spot to avoid sealing of their properties. So far RMC has collected Rs 145.3 crore as a property tax in the city limits.In another step from RMC for the recovery of property taxes it has used SMS alerts to remind property owners of their outstanding property taxes and it has received a good response from the owners.
