Panaji: The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) is planning on redeveloping its residencies situated at prime locations in Goa. The GTDC has taken this decision keeping in mind that the market competition is increasing and it has to come up with better residencies.The GTDC will also develop new residencies which will be in developed in a joint venture along with up gradation of its already developed residencies. Plans of GTDC involve immediate upgradation of the Panaji Residency which is located near the old secretariat building. Hotels available in the market are offering better facilities compared to GTDC residencies.The upgradation plan for various residencies will involve about 4-5 crore as an investment which will be provided by GTDC. The upgradation project will be given through a bidding process and regarding tender will be floated shortly in the market.The GTDC will start the work and two rooms will be upgraded on a trial basis and according to it the further development will be carried out later. The construction of the Panaji residency will start at the end of the tourist season mostly in April next year. The GTDC is looking for the private investment for developments; once they get the investment, the construction work will be immediately started.GTDC has several properties across the state which includes properties at Anjuna and Benaulim, theses properties will be developed in a partnership with private firm.
