Nashik: For the convenience of the tax payers, newer avenues of property tax payment have been opened. Now you can pay your property tax at the nearest bank branch. The Nashik Municipal Corporation is in talks with the nationalized banks which will be a part of this walk-in-to-pay-taxes drive. These nationalized banks will be responsible for tax collection from across the city. Property tax collection is expected to begin within the next two months. Almost 80 nationalized banks have given a nod to this new payment option. The revenue collection offices are thronged by a large number of tax payers. By allowing tax payments at bank branches a significant portion of this population will get distributed. Paying property taxes will become easier and less time consuming. Tax payers will no longer have to wait in those furlong queues for settling their dues. They can walk into their nearest bank branch and pay their property taxes. This will also facilitate faster recovery of tax dues from the citizens.The names of the banks which have tie-ups with the NMC are yet to be disclosed. Based on the general public feedback more banks will be roped into this property tax payment drive. The system software and other supportive factors are yet to be finalized by the banks and the NMC. To make tax paying more comfortable the NMC will come up with more such initiatives.
