Kolkata: The old warehouses, which have been lying vacant for quite some time, will be demolished for setting up infrastructural services like fire station and other such necessary facilities.The warehouses will be purchased from the Kolkata Port Trust. Talks have been taken further in this regard with the shipping ministry. The warehouses also face encroachment troubles which is why the Port Trust Authorities have complied with the sale proposal.Apart from the river beautification projects, a significant portion of the land will be kept aside for auctioning. The KoPT will be creating a corpus fund, out of the money earned from auctioning, to meet their present liabilities.
