Bangalore: With the beginning of new financial year, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to simplify the property tax payment process. Since the BBMP has already started collecting the property tax for the present assessment year 2015-16, it has come up with online payment option and also various offline modes for payment of tax.Tax payers can make online payment by logging into BBMP’s official website with Master card or Visa debit/ credit card issued by any bank. Additional transaction charges will not be imposed. Netbanking is another online payment option offered by the BBMP. Tax payers who have their account in 33 banks specified by BBMP can get benefited with netbanking payment service via IndusInd payment gateway.According to the senior official of this municipal corporation, tax payers with tax due less than Rs. 1,000 can directly pay the payment in cash at help centres’ of BBMP, particular sub-divisional Assistant Revenue Officer (ARO) organizations and any BangaloreOne centres anywhere in the city. Apart from the online process, for tax amount of more than Rs. 1,000, tax payers can make the payment though cheques, demand draft (DD) or pay order.Payments though pay order, cheque, demand draft or cash can be made at selected branches of Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, IndusInd Bank, IDBI Bank, Yes Bank, ING Vysya bank, Corporation Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Indian Overseas Bank.Tax payers can purchase the application forms, costing Rs. 5 from any BanagloreOne centres, ARO offices and bank branches. Online forms are also available which can be submitted at selected centre.If the total property tax is made on or within April 30 then a rebate of 5% can be availed by the tax payers.
