Pune: Since the standing committee has agreed to hike the charges, citizens may have to pay more for transferring property in Pune Municipal Corporation limits. Usually the property transfer fee of an annual tax of nearly Rs. 500 is Rs. 500. However, the fees will be increased to Rs. 1,000.Transfers are mostly done under categories, ‘open occupancy’ and ‘transfer of property to heir’. Transfer fee is determined from the property tax. Suppose, if the property tax is Rs. 500 then an extra amount of Rs. 15 for every Rs. 100 was charged by the civic administration. Now, due to the increase in transfer fees, the additional charges will be hiked from Rs. 15 to Rs. 30.For any changes or alteration in the name of the owners, the property owners will have to pay the transfer fees. According to the officials, they have given the complementary to lessen the load on the citizens who own residential properties.The standing committee chief said that transfer fee hike is canceled, in case of transfer of housing property to family member. The officials further added that the civic administration hasn’t changed the transfer fee rate for almost 15 years. The charge will be imposed only once in most of the cases, however increase rate will not be applicable for the citizens, every year.The civic body collects around Rs. 15 crore from the property transfer fees.
