New Delhi: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has decided to permit transfer of leasehold property to freehold property with General Power of Attorney (GPA) and registered agreement. Previously, the Supreme Court opinion had suspended the conversion of property.The Development Authority in a statement said that the Competent Authority of DDA took the decision regarding such property conversions, after discussing and taking the judgment of Solicitor General with respect to the documents validating that the property transaction is genuine.The authentication of the transaction would be verified during the time of processing the conversion application and depending upon the production of related documents like contract to sell registered with sub-registrar of Delhi.The Urban Housing body said that once these documents gets verified, the lease administrating organization of the development authority that includes Housing Wing and the Land Disposal Wing would process the property transfer applications with respect to completion of all other codal rules and regulations which is presented in the conversion brochure.The leasehold property owner is generally the one who owns the building and not the land while freehold property owner own the land, enjoys all the rights over that land and can easily sell, transfer or repair the property. Power of Attorney is essential for the property conversion.
