Pune: The Maharashtra State Government has launched e-mutation system which helps to maintain the updated land records with great precision. This computer-based online system allows the citizens to complete land- related deals at talathi’s office in less time and also aids the revenue department to process the application with an accelerated speed.In the beginning, e-mutation will be used by only 35 talukas, one taluka from each region from 16th August; however the government is intending to execute this online system in all talukas of Maharashtra by the end of October.Currently the land records are maintained manually by the circle officers and talathis. The online system would replace the traditional process and provide proformas to maintain the land record entries. The record data will be stored in uniform format across the state. The settlement commissioner and land records director said in a news conference that the data will be connected to a state server.He further said that a large set of hardware will be needed to carry out the operation. E-mutation programme has been installed in all the laptops provided to the talathis and circle officers. Also data card, username and password are provided to operate the online system.From past two years, the department is working on this process. Before introducing the online system, it was essential to upload all the data related to land-records to the server. Around 90% of the work has been completed, till now.
