Paying property tax and water bills is made much easy for the citizens of Mumbai. Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) currently launched a new mobile application which allows the users to pay various bills through their mobile phones. The residents can also register their complaints against various civic issues with the help of this app. According to the Municipal Commissioner, it has become vital for the civic administration to keep up with the pace of technology. Hence with this motive they have launched the mobile app where the citizens can make the payment within a button click.He further said that the application is called MCGM 24X7 and can be utilized to make various payments like water bill, property tax and also for renewal of different licenses. Android mobile users can easily download this application from Google Play Store for free. Pune–based, Centre of Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) has lent their support to develop this app.The Municipal Commissioner also said that the app will later offer more services like renewal for authorization of shops and organization and renewal of industrial unit permits. Apart from bill payment, Mumbaikars can also file their complaints against which immediate actions will be taken.Citizens can pay their bills through a choice of payment modes like credit cards, debit cards, net banking and also Immediate Payment Service (IMPS). People who will be making payment with net banking may have to pay additional Rs. 5 as civic body fee for the transaction of amount till Rs. 500 and for above Rs. 500, Rs. 10 will be charged.
