The real estate arm of Tata Group, Tata Housing and Kolkata-based real estate firm, Keventer Group had signed a Memorandum of Understanding, earlier this year to mutually discover and work on new opportunities in the rapidly developing West Bengal market. With this initiative, the real estate companies have entered into a joint venture for developing a ritzy residential project in one of the high-flying localities of Kolkata, Alipore Road.This would be the second joint venture between these two real estate firms. Their first project was government’s 4 acre Calcutta Tramways plot but due to some issues, the project is put on hold. The joint venture, residential project is spread across 3 acres of land and will be offering 5 million sq ft of residential space. The total cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs. 500 crore.According to the sources, Tata Housing will be acquiring majority of the stake of 51% while the remaining 48% will be held by Keventer Group in this proposed ultra-luxury residential project in Kolkata. The paid-up size capital has not been declared yet, however it is confirmed that it will be a joint venture between Tata and Keventer.The MD and CEO of Tata Housing Development said that they have entered into the joint venture with an intention to expand their presence in Kolkata. If this joint venture acquires all the necessary clearances, then the project is expected to get completed by the end of this year. The MD of Keventer Group said that this is just the beginning of their long-term association with Tata Housing.
