New Residential Launches Increased by 43% in January-March Period

home launchesAccording to a latest report presented by the reputed global real estate consultant, Cushman & Wakefield, residential launches in India has went up by 43% in January-March period as compared to its previous quarter. More than 55,000 residential units have been developed in the prime 8 cities of the country during this period.As per the report, in first quarter of 2014, 55,438 housing units were launched in the 8 major cities while in previous quarter, these cities witnessed launch of 38,898 residential units.The 8 prime cities where new residences were launched are Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. According to the property consultant, out of these 8 cities, Bangalore saw maximum launches and the number of units were increased by 22% as compared to the last quarter. Mumbai also recorded good number of launches. Together, Bangalore and Mumbai itself contributed 50% of total launches in the first quarter of 2014.Apart from Ahmedabad and NCR, all the cities witnessed good rise in the number of residential units. Delhi saw a drop of 18% launches of new housing units as compared to previous quarter.According to the Executive Managing Director South Asia of C&W, real estate developers have taken mindful decision to come up with additional residential units in the first quarter, itself as they predict that sales may improve by the second half of 2014 due to economic stability which will motivate the end-users to invest in residential properties. The general election decision may also influence the real estate market.
