Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to complete the process of verification and assessment of building very soon. The orders were given by the GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar in which he has asked authority officials to complete the process as early as possible. The last date to complete all the verifications and assessment was st5ated to be 20 March 2014.The decision was taken by the GHMC commissioner and he had conducted a teleconference with all zonal commissioners to review the process of verification and assessment as well as the progress of property tax collection.GHMC has issued 2087 occupancy certificates (OC) to buildings in the past three fiscal years which covers about 40,18,412 sq ft of area. Officials have been asked to take date of issuance of occupancy certificate as the date of property tax assessment for the buildings.The GHMC has issued 542 NoC for fire safety and property must be assessed from two and half years. GHMC also has 760 pending cases in the court which involve Rs 97.3 crore and it has settled several of such court cases involving property tax. The commissioner stated that if these cases are strategically planned they would also get settles very soon.GHMC has created a database which contains phone numbers of property tax payers in the city, the total share which has been included in this data base is 32 percent of the total tax payers.
