Chandigarh: The Punjab government has allotted land to 27 IT companies to set up their units in Mohali town. On Monday, Punjab government handed over land allotment letters to these companies including renowned it sector giant, Infosys to enable them to set up their units in the city.Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said that it is expected that these companies will bring investments worth Rs 1000 crore in the coming three years along with employment of about 30000 people in Punjab. He also added that the investment by these IT companies had been promised at the summit of Progressive Punjab Investors in Mohali.The shortlisted company list includes around 15 Multi National Companies, and the implementation of Memorandum of commitment (MoC) has been already initiated. Sukhbir Singh Badal also said that this is just a beginning of the growth and in coming next three years Mohali would be the first well planned IT destination in the country. Further the development of this destination will boost the economic activities in the state.These projects will be implemented on high speed process. To make sure that these developments will come up and running as early as possible; the government has allotted land parcels on lease for three years.In case if any company fails to invest within the stipulated time period then the MoU signed by the government will be cancelled by the Punjab Government. Infosys is planning to lay the foundation stone for Infosys Mohali project on February 22 which will be the biggest campus of the Infosys in India having capacity of 50000 employees.
