India Becomes 7th Country to Have HSUI

housing-start-up-indexNew Delhi: Housing Start Up Index has shown a declining trend in big cities like Kolkata and Chennai while cities like Bhopal and Hubli etc observed significant growth in the housing sector. Housing Start Up Index (HSUI) is an indicator of the volume of construction carried out in the housing sector for a certain period of time. HSUI for about 27 cities have been released across the country.According to the released index, cities like Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore observed a declining trend while an upwards trend in the housing sector was observed in small cities like Dehradun, Bhopal, and Hubli etc. The statement was given by the housing and poverty alleviation minister Girija Vyas while releasing the HSUI.HSUI is the first of a kind initiative in the country which will help the housing sector to analyze economic growth in the sector. The HSUI is a critical indicator of economic growth relating to various sectors like banking, mortgage, labour, steel, cement and paint etc.Trends are useful indicators of the pattern of development in the country which will help policy makers and administrators to understand the future focus of the sector, which can help improve the thrust in terms of housing sector provisions associated with infrastructure and civic amenities.Across the globe, only 6 countries have housing start up index on a regular basis and with its initiative, India has become a seventh country to have HSUI to improve housing sector.
